How to make a two-person rap video (a duet) with AI

Pick a duet template, Studio Booth Duo or Hotel Lobby Duo, upload one photo of each person, choose a voice for each, and the AI writes the rap for two and lip-syncs both faces. Duets run 10 or 15 seconds and cost 2 credits a second, so 30 credits at most.

The two duet templates

TemplateSceneBest for
Studio Booth DuoTwo people sharing one mic in a recording boothBest friends, couples, siblings, a birthday from two
Hotel Lobby DuoTwo rappers in streetwear in a marble hotel lobbyWedding toasts, best men, a big announcement

Both put the first photo on the left and the second on the right, keep each face, hair and skin tone, and frame both from the chest or waist up so both mouths stay visible. Each person gets their own voice, male or female.

Sample 1: Studio Booth Duo

Two best friends rap to a third for her 25th birthday. Two female voices, trap beat, hype vibe. Notice the second line explains who is rapping; in a duet that line does a lot of work.

Jess, it's your birthday and we took the booth tonightTwo best friends on the mic and we wrote you every lineTwenty-five and glowing, you still own the dance floorHappy birthday, Jess, we love you, here's one more

Each friend takes lines in turn; the frames follow the sung bars.

Sample 2: Hotel Lobby Duo

Two best men roast the groom at a wedding. Two male voices on a trap beat with a roast vibe. The lobby, chandelier and gold chains give a toast the scale of a music video.

Danny's getting married, yo we flew in for the toastLost his keys, lost his phone, still the man who loves her mostBack in college he was burning ramen every nightNow he cooks for Rose, man, and somehow gets it right

The two photos

A duet needs two separate photos, one face in each. A single group photo does not work: the template has to know which face goes left and which goes right, and a group shot gives it neither cleanly.

Photo 1: one face, front-facing, daylight

One group photo for both people
  • Both faces towards the camera, mouths visible, no sunglasses.
  • Similar framing in both: two head-and-shoulders selfies match better than a selfie and a full-body shot.
  • Daylight in both, so the two faces look like they share a room.
  • Upload in the order you want them left to right.

How the lines are split

The rap is written for two from the start: "we" instead of "I", and lines that pass back and forth. In a 15-second duet each person gets about half the clip; the switch happens near the middle of the hook rather than every line, which keeps the mouths readable.

  1. Line 1: the name and the occasion, from whoever is closest to them.
  2. Line 2: who the two of you are. "Two best friends", "the best men", "your kids".
  3. Lines 3 and 4: the other voice, with the joke and the wish.

Pick two different voices, male and female, for the clearest hand-off. Two of the same voice still works, as both samples show.

Writing a hook for two voices

A duet hook should sound like two people talking to one. Write it as "we", give each voice a clear job, and keep the lines short enough that the hand-off is easy to follow.

[NAME], it’s your [OCCASION] and we came to say,Two of your people on the mic today,[FACT] every time, yeah, we know you too well,Happy [OCCASION], [NAME], you know we love you, so we tell.

Line 1 sets the scene, line 2 says who is rapping, and lines 3 and 4 hand over to the second voice for the joke and the wish. In a roast duet, let the first voice tease and the second voice defend; the back-and-forth makes it feel like a real toast.

Length and cost

LengthDuetOne person
10 seconds20 credits10 credits
15 seconds30 credits15 credits

Duets cost twice as much per second because there are two faces to animate, and they run 10 or 15 seconds. 15 seconds fits the full 4-line hook, which is what most duets need. For a longer rap from two people, make the whole song as an MP3, or make two solo videos.

  • A couple announcing an engagement, a move or a baby.
  • Two coworkers sending off a third at an office farewell.
  • You and a friend roasting a third friend in the group chat.
