How to make an AI rap video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Make a 15-second vertical video (15 credits) with the name or the joke in the very first line, download the MP4 with no watermark, and post it with the original sound. Use a trend template when you want the sound people already know.

So the work left is the part no tool can do for you: a first line worth stopping for.

Why 15 seconds

Short videos are judged on how many people watch to the end and watch again. A 15-second rap is the 4-line hook and nothing else, so there is no dull middle to scroll past, and it loops cleanly back to the first line. A 60-second rap is a gift; a 15-second rap is a post.

LengthCreditsUse it for
10 seconds10 creditsA single joke, a reply video
15 seconds15 creditsThe hook: the default for a post
30 seconds30 creditsHook and one story, for Reels

Write the first line for the scroll

The first line has about a second to earn the second line. Lead with the strangest true thing: a name and a crime, a pet and its attitude, a number. These first lines from the samples each give a reason to keep watching:

Mango in the shades and he don't careTook your socks to the yard and he buried them deepDanny's getting married, yo we flew in for the toast
  • Name first, then the joke. The name tells friends it is about someone they know.
  • No intro bars. Skip "yo, check it" and start on the story.
  • Make line 4 lead back into line 1, so the loop sounds intended.
  • Put the punchline on a line of its own, so it can be the caption too.

What works best: pets

Pet raps are the easiest to post because strangers enjoy them too; a birthday rap is mostly for friends. A cat with sunglasses and an attitude on a drill beat is a complete idea in one frame.

Mango Don’t Care: 15 seconds, drill beat, roast vibe.

Mango the cat rapping, frame 2“Knocked your cup off and he left it there”

Each frame is one bar. The first one is the one the feed shows as the cover.

Five post formats that work

Series do well. Post the dog’s rap one week, the cat’s the next, a "my pets rap battle" the week after; people follow to see the next one. The same template and beat each time makes the account recognisable.

What kills a rap post

  • A slow start. If the first line is "it’s a special day today", people are gone by line 2.
  • Too long. A 60-second rap is great as a gift and too long for a cold audience.
  • Inside jokes only. Strangers do not know your friend; a pet or a big personality travels further.
  • A poor photo. A face that is turned away or in shadow looks off on a big phone screen.
  • Posting a link instead of the video. Feeds push native video, not links out.

Most of these are fixed before you render. Write the hook with the strangest fact first, check the free first frame, and keep it to 15 seconds. Then the only variable left is the idea.

Posting it

  1. Download the MP4 and upload it as a new post, not a link, so the feed treats it as native video.
  2. Caption with the punchline or the name: "Biscuit stole your socks again".
  3. Tag the person, or the pet’s account, in the caption.
  4. Post within the hour you make it if it is for a birthday; the day matters more than the time.
  5. Reply to comments with a second rap: a 10-second answer is cheap and keeps the thread going.

Only post someone’s face with their OK. Public figures and anyone under 18 are blocked as subjects, and the generator turns down hateful prompts.

Captions, text on screen and the cover

Many people scroll with the sound off, so the words need to be readable too. Add the app’s own auto-captions, or type the hook as on-screen text, so the joke works on mute.

PartWhat to writeExample
CaptionThe punchline or the setupMy dog has a sock vault and no shame
On-screen textWho it is and whyMade my cat a rapper for his birthday
CoverThe frame with the face and the mouth openThe first second of the video
TagsThe person, the pet account, two or three topic tagsThe pet’s handle, a pet tag, a rap tag

A caption that asks a question, such as "should I make the dog a whole album?", gives people a reason to comment, and a comment is a chance to reply with the next rap.

Questions

Can I post the same video on Reels and Shorts?

Yes. The MP4 is vertical and has no watermark, so the same file works on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

What kind of rap video does best on TikTok?

Pet raps travel furthest, because strangers enjoy them. Birthday and roast raps do best with friends and family.

How long should a rap video for TikTok be?

Fifteen seconds: the 4-line hook. It loops cleanly and gets watched to the end.

Is the video vertical?

Yes. Every template renders vertical, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

Is there a watermark?

No. The MP4 downloads with no watermark.

Can I use a trending sound?

Yes, with a trend template, which uses the trend’s own sound. A rap from your own lyrics is original sound.
